On September 18 2021, Premier International School officially introduced their own Sports Academy with tremendous participation and enthusiasm from the students. This is the first time in the history of Premier International School an academy like this was introduced, led by coaches with great experience, skills and specialities in their fields. Sports activities are currently conducted twice a week on weekends, mainly focused on two major sports being Football and Basketball. Additionally, other sports like Swimming, Wushu, Table Tennis, and Cricket would be introduced into the academy soon. The academy would be open to students from other schools, with the aim of creating an inclusive and competitive environment during the pandemic to accelerate the physical and mental well being of students who have been stuck at their homes for months.
Similarly, the highlight of the academy are the National Team Coaches:Ms. Sadina Shrestha- Captain of Women’s National Basketball teamMr. Sadish Pradhan- Captain of Men’s National Basketball Team and Mr. Sanoj Shrestha- AFC A license holder coach The training sessions started with mild warm ups and impressive participation from all the students. In consideration of the current circumstances, the timings for the training sessions have been divided according to age groups ensuring strict compliance to all COVID-19 protocols. Students within the ages of 14-16 years have their training session from 07:30am – 09:00am, students of ages 12-14 years have their training from 09:00 AM – 10:30am, while students from the youngest group of 6-12 years have their training sessions from 10:30am-11:30am.
Not only did the entire event give us a break from our new normal we practice being virtual everyday, but it also energized the entire sequence of routine we followed being glued to our seats. Additionally, the interest of all the coaches to teach, provide guidance and help students excel in their respective interest fields was amazing to witness. In a nutshell, if you are yet to register for this magnificent and lifetime opportunity to get tutored by such proficient coaches, this is definitely the time!
