Wise words said by a wise man, Mr. Mahabir Pun, the chairman of Kirtipur National Innovation Center, located at the Tribhuvan University, Kirtipur, believes that every opportunity with great ideas for innovation should get a chance to be heard, supported, encouraged, and empowered. Taking the chance, Premier International IB World School organized a fun field trip for the 3rd graders on the 1st of June 2022, to the Innovation center, Kirtipur. It is a non-profit organization, to receive inspiration that will be useful to lifelong learners, such that they can make something for the future out of the information they receive and the curiosity that they build in the innovation center.
The purpose of the trip was to work on their unit “Where we are in Place and Time” and for the students to inquire about how invention has evolved over the period. Facilitators at the innovation center demonstrated the different inventions and why they are done. They described how inventions are done, emphasizing on few great inventors in the world and what they invented such as:
- Thomas Edison (Light bulb)
- Wright Brothers (Airplane)
- Charles Babbage (Computers)
- Alexandra Graham Bell (Telephones)
The trip was amusing and educational for the 3rd graders. It made the students more aware and curious about Inventions and was important for their Unit of Inquiry as IB Learners. The students were also intrigued to know more about great inventors who have made their lives easy.
